Cork Foyer seeks to provide an essential and strong relationship between Foyer residents, staff and management. In order to do this, the Foyer fully encourages its service users to influence the future direction of the Foyer service by promoting and supporting resident participation and consultation at every level of the decision making process.
By encouraging service users to take as much control over their accommodation and its management as possible, the Foyer believes it can deliver a more focused and effective service than meets the individual and collective needs of its service users, whilst helping young people gain the essential skills for life beyond the Foyer.
The Foyer uses a variety of mechanisms to promote resident participation, ensuring that service users can become involved at a level that suits them. These range from monthly Resident meetings or attendance at the Foyer Resident Advisory Group to representation on the Foyer Management Committee or the simple completion of satisfaction surveys.
