Blackpool in Bloom

Cork City Council and RAPID recognise that landscaping, plants and flowers can provide a splash of colour and visual lift to our neighbourhoods and communities. As part of the Draft Blackpool Village Area Action Plan, residents and commercial owners have been encouraged to create floral displays within Blackpool Village.

Windowboxes

Local residents and businesses who signed up to the Blackpool in Bloom initiative launched the event at the Cork Foyer on Saturday 12 June 2010. Martin Dinneen and Majella Gould (Community Wardens), along with Denis Mulcahy (Blackpool Tenants Association), Paul McGuirke (Rapid Co-ordinator), and Denis Murphy (Foyer Project) assisted residents to make 80 window boxes to their own design, compliments of Cork City Council and RAPID.

The event, once again, promoted the Foyer as not only an essential homeless service but a thriving community resource that can be enjoyed for a variety reasons by people of all ages.
