Following the completion of the 2008 summer term internal programmes held at the Foyer, residents recently celebrated their achievements with a summer barbeque. Good fun was had by all and there was food a plenty!

Residents were awarded certificates for the completion of Fetac modules facilitated by Ables, and for their participation on the independent living skills programme Fast Forward, facilitated by the YMCA. Since the beginning of 2008, 12 residents have completed the Fetac Level 3 module in Personal/Interpersonal Skills, 4 completed the Fetac Level 3 module in Communications, 2 completed Fetac Level 3 in Career Information, 3 completed Fetac Level 3 in Numeracy and 4 completed Fetac Level 3 in IT. A number of residents have also moved onto start Fetac Level 4 modules in Communications and IT as a further preparation for college courses.
Some residents excelled in courses provided externally also. These included the Steps programme with the YMCA and courses with FAS and Failte Ireland. Several residents have already enrolled on courses due to start in September at local colleges, one resident will be due to start the Steps programme with YMCA and another will be taking part in the extended Steps programme.
We would like to thank those who facilitated training at the Foyer for the first half of this year and for their continued support. We would also like to congratulate residents on their successes and wish them luck with future training endeavors.
